MISSION STATMENT
As a southern woman, I was bred to be a debutant but born to climb trees.
This dichotomy sums up my choreographic aesthetic. Growing up, I was
surrounded by generations of strong and graceful women who influenced my
perception of the world. Humorous and at times unsettling, my dances unveil
the potent and volatile nature of power dynamics among women. The movement
vocabulary consists of a robust athleticism characterized by raw elegance.
Interactions among the dancers range from nurturing, playful, and sensual
to passive-aggressive, competitive and sometimes violent. My mission as
a choreographer is to transform the theater into an intimate and accessible
space for the audience and the dancers into familiar individuals.
